Meet Kristin.
My Story.
Fitness was the perfect career choice for me, allowing for a flexible schedule so that I could be the primary provider for my children’s daily needs. Whether it was driving them to school, being a room parent, soccer mom, carpooling to various ski resorts for races, helping with homework, making healthy meals, or just plain keeping the household running, I was devoted to providing that role for my family.
In 2012 I started experiencing pain in my left hip. For 9 months I saw various orthopedic surgeons until I found an expert at the Hospital for Special Surgery in NYC who was confident he could repair my hip. Over that 9-month period, many MRIs revealed a tumor growing in my left thigh. While recovering from hip arthroscopy I was diagnosed with a myxoid liposarcoma in my thigh. After 25 rounds of radiation and tumor excision, I was cancer free. With the help of an awesome physical therapist, using my knowledge in fitness, and a lot of sweat and perseverance, I returned back to my life in fitness.
I became an instant empty nester in 2016 when my son graduated from high school and my daughter left for boarding school. Woah, can you say SHOCK!? JOLT to your system! While my fitness career and the community of women at my gym sustained my sanity, I felt as though I was standing on the sidelines of my life. I had been literally running at a crazy pace to keep the family operating business as usual. With a tremendous amount of soul-searching, therapy, books, podcasts, and the support of amazing friends and family, I found the courage to completely change the trajectory of my life.
I left my marriage of 23 years, moved from my home of 20 years to a beach town in NJ where, put your foot on the BRAKES, the pandemic of 2020 landed me alone in NJ. In 2020, I bought a new home in my hometown, Allentown, PA, where I am so fortunate to be among friends and family. I've learned that life truly begins at the end of your comfort zone. Being vulnerable opens you up to living a life of love and joy. Without vulnerability, fear and self-doubt persist. Surround yourself with others who choose vulnerability as those are the people whose opinions hold value.
Everybody has a story and I believe with support, personal growth and a consistent fitness regimen you can be strong in not only body, but also mind and spirit and live a whole-hearted life. I challenge you to lean in, get uncomfortable with me, and allow me to join you on your journey to whole-heartedness.
My Fitness Journey.
I developed a passion for group fitness at the age of 16. Thirteen years later, I gave birth to my son and was so desperate to get back to group fitness, I decided to become a certified group fitness instructor to cover the childcare costs as money was very tight back then. Over the past 23 years, I accumulated various certifications in group fitness and taught formats such as hi-lo aerobics (yes I started my journey with Jane Fonda), step, toning classes, yoga, PiYo, BodyCombat, TRX, Soul Strength, and Pilates. My heart and soul have found a home in Pilates and core-focused modalities. Your core is your center, your powerhouse. It is where balance and strength come from for your body to operate efficiently which in turn positively impacts your mind and spirit.
My career in fitness allowed me to be a devoted mother to my amazing son and daughter. I had the privilege to work for an all female fitness center in central PA for 10 years where I enjoyed a fabulous community of women. It was home away from home. I led the Pilates team, challenged clients on Pilates apparatus, and continued to teach group fitness. The trajectory of my life changed in 2019 and then with the start of the pandemic in 2020, I transitioned to a virtual platform seeking to find that powerful community of women where everyone is supported in her journey to speak her truth, triumph over fear, and find courage to be vulnerable and live a whole-hearted life.
